Our Story
Located in Danville Kentucky as of Spring 2024, Royal Edelweiss is managed by Lucy Droleskey. With World or National Championships in Driving, Hunter, Jumper, Obstacle and Halter as well as Overall Champion awards from Carriage Shows, Miss Lucy offers training of Miniatures and Ponies of all sizes. Utilizing the best of classic time honored horsemanship methods and adapting them to each horse's individual needs and preferences ensures that your horse will enjoy and comprehend the learning process.
Although born into a non "horsey" or farming family, she has been attracted to them for as long as she can remember. From pony rides before she could walk to formal lessons and studying disciplines, genetics and rare breeds, her love of horses only grew stronger.
Although initially focusing on classical dressage and the Arabian breed, Lucy was fortuitously introduced to the American Miniature Horse by a neighbor and became interested in driving for pleasure, though it would be only a few years before competition became a goal.
Forever trying to learn as much as possible and always striving toward a bigger goal, even her wildest dreams were surpassed when she began showing the incredibly versatile miniature breed, capturing eight National and World titles in a single year, in driving, jumping, halter, hunter and in-hand trail, in addition to a prestigious Horse of the Year award.
A compliment from a carriage driver led her to research the world of CDE and Carriage Pleasure, opening a vast new range of goals that appealed to her love of dressage, driving, tradition, and history. Already having won several High Point awards in Carriage Pleasure, she is currently chasing even bigger dreams in both disciplines while she manages a select training program of client horses from around the country.
One of her passions has also been helping others with their horses, particularly the ones deemed problematic or needing to overcome major obstacles. To that end she offers training for all types of miniatures and ponies with driving lessons especially geared toward safely starting or restarting horses and working with their drivers to establish a solid foundation and relationship built on trust and hours of groundwork.
Another popular branch recently has been marketing, both remotely and by taking consignment horses to train and also by helping to connect the right person with the right horse nationwide.
